National Conference on Aviation and
Space Education: held October 19-21st in our nation’s
capitol. We will be making a presentation on Friday on The
Importance of STEM Education in a Path to Military and
Commercial Pilot Careers: The role math, science, engineering,
and technology play in supporting a professional pilot career and
activities suggested for young adults to prepare for this
occupation. If you are interested in participating in the
presentation, please contact me. I have reserved a room in the
hotel where the conference is held where you can stay. For more
information on the conference, please visit www.ncase.info.
Also in October: NASA Glenn Cleveland is putting on a
presentation to the local Girl Scout Councils on the 21st of this
month. I could use help at this event, too. If you are interested,
please send an email.

Girls With Wings Merchandise: Debra Rich, one of
the original supporters of Girls With Wings, recently purchased one of
our exclusive necklaces. She raves, “I gets lots of attention from the
GWW necklace!” She and others are looking forward to the long-
sleeved items coming in sometime this month, as “(her little girl) Zoe is
a walking billboard! Lots of “fly-ins” coming up and it is getting cooler.
I sewed her GWW patch on a jean jacket, too cute.” Keep an eye out,
folks, the new order includes a wide range of infant / toddler / youth
items with the Girls With Wings logo.

Our Newest Girl With Wings: Jenny the
WingWalker! Spectators are amazed as I climb atop the monoplane and
perform a series of daring stunts as Bob maneuvers the plane through the
skies, never leaving the sight of the crowd. I enjoy inspiring youth at
airshows, showing them that even kids who experience(d) low self-esteem
can grow up to do extraordinary things. In addition to wingwalking, I also
work full-time as a scientist at the University of Notre Dame. Read more.

Flight Options Wingtips Magazine: My employer’s quarterly circular
highlighted their sponsorship of my trips to the Women at Work Museum, in Attleboro, MA
(featured in previous VIP newsletters). “Flight Options understands the importance of
allowing everyone and anyone to achieve their dream — especially young women. That’s why
Meeks has attended two exhibits. Meeks speaks to people of all ages about what she does,
why she loves what she does and that if aviation is something that really excites you, to get
involved, whether male or female and do what your heart desires.”
$10 off Sale: To celebrate (!?!) the arrival of cooler
weather, we are offering a $10 off on the Girls With Wings
embroidered zip jackets. These high quality jackets have
slimming seaming down the front of the jacket and are super
soft and warm. Now just $37. Available in S, M, L, and XL,
and in black or gray. Remember, all of the profits from the
sales of our merchandise go to developing the Girls With
Wings mission! Visit the eBay store.
Help Girls With Wings: By submitting your bio, telling others about us,
and signing up on the GWW update list so you can be notified of all developments and
volunteer opportunities. Ask your local airport gift shop to carry Girls With Wings
merchandise. Use the message boards to advertise pancake breakfasts, fly-ins, and
aviation museums in your area!
