A game you can recreate yourself!
I came up with it for a Girl Scout event (4-5-6th
grades) at NASA Glenn Cleveland. I laminated
some cockpit posters and made game pieces of the
6 basic instruments (all slightly different readings).
After I explained the purpose of the instrument, the
girls had to match them to the poster. Rhonda, an
Air Traffic Controller volunteer, then asked them
questions about their "flight," and they responded
with official radio calls.

Mercury Women: Forgotten Link to the Future:
A year ago the International Women's Air and Space Museum started planning a
new permanent exhibit at the museum to tell the story of the first U.S. women to
undergo secret astronaut testing. On November 10th that exhibit will be opening
at
IWASM and Girls With Wings is proud to be a supporter of this exhibit.
New Blog!: Created to cover daily
occurrences while I'm on the road flying, or when
I'm at home, I'll use it to explain a few aviation
terms and principles. You can ask questions, too!

Our Newest Girl With Wings:
Louise: "I spend half of my time in California enjoying
the warm sunshine and big blue skies that are perfect
for flying and the other half in England where it’s
cloudy and not so great for aviation. When I am in
America I work for a company that offers scenic
flights in vintage aircraft. Two of the planes are from
the 1920s and are the type of airplane that took part
in the first women’s air races and in which famous
female pilots such as Amelia Earhart and Louise
Thaddon flew.

Education in a Path to Military and Commercial Pilot
Careers: The role math, science, engineering, and
technology play in supporting a professional pilot
career and activities suggested for young adults to
prepare for this occupation. I promised to make the

KBKL/GS Event: Girls With Wings helped with a
Girl Scout trip to Burke Lakefront Airport by linking them to
local Pilot Donna Plotz. Says troop leader Elaine Perryman:
"Thanks so much [Donna] for the aviation lessons on Thursday
for the Girl Scouts. The girls loved it! You and your colleagues
sparked interest for their future. The girls went on and on to
their friends about the field trip. They still carry the phonetic
alphabet card with them and share." The troop is looking for a
pilot willing to give rides in the spring. Anyone
interested?
