Thank you for an Amazing Second Year for Girls With Wings™. In preparation for 2007, we’re
going to take a good look back at ’06. Look next month for the results from the (now closed) website
survey. I want to share with you a recent (and appreciated) email message re: Missing Some Important
Kids. It says, “I noticed the ABSENCE (author’s emphasis) of girls of color in your photo gallery. Surely
there are some black and Hispanic girls interested in aviation. And if not, why not?” I assured the writer
(and I assure all of you now) that I have not received either bios or pictures of present or future Girls
With Wings™ (wearing GWW gear) and excluded them on purpose. In fact, I continue at risk of causing
offense, to specifically emphasize to women of color how vital it is for me to post their profiles on the
site… because I know it’s a concern for all of us!
Although the full line of the GWW dolls has not been
revealed, three that have been introduced in a
previous newsletter included one Asian and one
Hispanic character (with more diversity to come) just
for this reason. The video clips of women at a Women
in Aviation Conference feature women of different
ethnicities, but just as the percentage of them in the
industry is smaller, so is their representation on the
site to date. This is where all of your input comes in.
It is so important that we show a wide range of
ethnicities, as well as aviation fields, ages,
backgrounds, etc. Spread the word and ask for
participation from those you know!
Testimonials: We love to hear from you! Please share with us how and why you sought
out Girls With Wings™? How do you feel about the site? What concept or idea appealed to
you the most? How so? Are you currently using a GWW purchase? What would you like to
say to someone who is considering visiting the site/making a purchase from GWW? Please
include your permission to edit as needed and permission for “any and all uses” as well as
permission to use your name, title, company, credentials, etc. Photographs are always
appreciated! See our Raves Page here.
Don’t forget to buy your Holiday Gifts from us! We have gotten so many
new items and we’re all just so proud of them (as Kate demonstrates)!
Things are “flying” off the shelves since we are starting to have our items
carried in FBO Pilot Shops. Also, please visit www.Amazon.com THROUGH
our website. We will receive a portion of Amazon’s profits (at no additional
cost to you) on absolutely ANYTHING you buy.
Volunteers Needed: GWW is for a second time
going to have a booth at this major conference and
can always use your help. At least please stop by,
because we will once again be taking video clips of
attendees telling what they do and why they love it.
Last years video clips are posted here.
Blog postings! I am trying to be good about making posts on the new blog.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been flying much so I don’t have any great stories to tell or
pictures to share. Although this does give me time to work on Girls With Wings™….
Is there something you would like to read about? See the blog at

Our Newest Girls With Wings™:
Jill: Flying has always been my passion, I can remember
as a four (or so) year old climbing up into a tree one
evening when the stars were coming out. When my mum
asked me, “What on earth are you doing?” I replied as I
pointed to the stars, “Trying to get up there.” Read more.
Christa: If you want to do anything
related to aviation I say GO FOR IT!
Even though I’m just getting started I
really feel like I’m living out my dreams.
I would love to hear from any of you
who are interested. It was only a few
short years ago that I was in your
shoes. Best of luck in all that you do!
