Kids love imaginary play, of course, and the
amazingly popular “Princess” craze proves it. But
“Happily Ever After” is a little vague when we’re
talking about the very real future of our girls.
Women have proven themselves to be capable of
very impressive feats, and successful women
make great role models for our little girls. Instead
of encouraging our girls to wait for their knights in
shining armor, how about encouraging them to
explore the night in their shiny airplane?
Our partner company, Very Important Pilots, LLC, was created in 2005
because we thought there should be a concerted effort to introduce girls to
flight at a young age. It is our aspiration that, some day, the ratio of
women to men in the aviation industry will be more equitable and the need
to focus on girls specifically will cease to exist.
Our GWW merchandise line offers clothing and
other items for girls of all ages; the rarely
found aircraft themed items designed to let
everyone know “Yes, Girls Can Fly!” While some
may view one of our products as just a t-shirt,
we believe that it is in fact a statement about
the potential of girls to be intimately connected

Girls With Wings, Inc. also has an active mission-
based volunteer database. That’s right; the great
thing about people in aviation is that they usually
are in that line of work because they enjoy it! We
have a rapidly growing number of willing aviation
enthusiasts in all areas of aeronautics and
aerospace from around the country who are
searching for opportunities to share their
I know there are already so many
organizations out there dealing with
aviation, aviation for kids, aviation
education, etc., and we are not in
competition with any of them. In fact, many
of their members are also members of Girls
With Wings, Inc. I would like to ask you to
give us the opportunity to help out at your
next event, be it a career day, airshow,
scout event, etc. We think the more
information kids have about their
opportunities; the more likely they are to
pursue them. See the Penelope Pilot Project
calendar of upcoming events.
We would like to hear from you if you have an opportunity for a speaker,
airport tour guide, or, well, you tell us how we can assist you. I would also
like to ask you to spread word about the great things Girls With Wings,
Inc., is doing to help entertain girls as we educate them about their
limitless potential for personal growth. Again, we Girls With Wings, Inc.,
rely on our volunteers. Please learn more about how you can support the
Girls With Wings, Inc., mission. I look forward to hearing from you so that
we may work together to remind young women that “Yes, Girls Can Fly!”
Research has proven that we can expose our girls to
the opportunities available to them, but unless we can
give them real life examples of women who have
achieved their dreams, girls have difficulty picturing
themselves doing the same.
How do we propose to do this? Girls With
Wings, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that
uses aviation to encourage girls to reach their
full potential by introducing young girls to
their role models in aviation-related careers
and hobbies. Website activities and
inspirational stories of women involved in
various aspects of aviation will motivate girls
to pursue their own skyward adventures.

knowledge and love of aviation. We are looking for women pilots to be
GWW volunteers, who will make the connection between educational sites,
after school club, social groups, etc., to our volunteers. Would you like to
help us?
